Comprehensive Transportation Planning: Casing Jacket Foundation Manufacturing to Shipment
Giant assisted SDMS, one of Taiwan's local manufacturers of jacket foundations, in the transportation, assembly, lifting, storage, and export of 6 foundations for Ørsted's Greater Changhua 1 & 2a Offshore Wind Farm, as well as 31 Jacket foundations for the Zhong Neng Offshore Wind Farm over the past four years.
The project utilized the world's third-largest land-based crane, the PTC-200 DS with a lifting capacity of 3,200 tons, in combination with the LR1750 crawler crane and self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs) for the transportation and assembly of various foundation components.
Mammoet-Giant team provided highly safe and efficient transportation and lifting services. Despite challenges such as the inability to increase production rates, damage to European-standard equipment from lightning strikes, difficulties in repairs, and the need for entirely new transport designs and lifting solutions, the team successfully completed all tasks by the target dates set by the client.
The project team plays the role of the muscle in the production line at the SDMS which is offshore wind turbine foundation manufacturing plant. We handle the lifting and transportation of offshore wind turbine foundation components, with weights ranging from 10 tons to 1,250 tons. The team completes thousands of operations with flexible and adaptable engineering designs and equipment configurations, all while ensuring that safety standards are maintained at the highest level. As a result, Giant ensures that all components are delivered to the production line on time at each assembly stage, and that finished products are smoothly loaded onto barges for offshore team installation.
