First Indigenous Defense Submarine, the Hai Kun-class, submarine transportation
Taiwan’s first domestically built submarine after years of planning, design, and manufacturing, completed the first phase of hull construction this year (2024). Giant was entrusted by CSBC Corporation to manage the critical task of transporting the vessel. Utilizing 88-axle SPMT, Giant successfully moved the first Hai Kun-class submarine from the manufacturing facility onto a floating dock, where CSBC will proceed with the subsequent launch operations. The transportation process faced numerous challenges, including the elevation difference between the dock and the factory building, the height of the floating dock deck, tidal variations, weather conditions, and tight scheduling pressures.
In order to ensure that the official moving operation can proceed smoothly, Giant conducted numerous pre-operation coordination meetings and practical drills with the client. This mission not only involved the transport of a classified national asset but also set a new record for the heaviest load moved by current equipment. The success of this operation is a testament to the hard work and dedication of all participants, who managed immense pressure throughout the project. Due to the thorough preparation and strategic planning, the transportation was executed smoothly and safely, marking the successful completion of a significant national mission! Giant is honored to have played a role in the government’s national development strategy and is proud to provide high-quality services to meet our client's needs.
