Wind farm construction logistics integration: Submarine cable transportation and installation

At the Zhong Neng Offshore Wind Farm, located 10 to 16 kilometers the coast of Changhua County, Taiwan, Giant has successfully completed the shore pull-in of the subsea cables. This project involves a total of 4 cables and is equipped with 31 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 9.5 MW and a maximum output power of 294.5 MW.

The main challenges of this project stemmed from the unpredictable marine conditions and weather. The cables connect offshore wind turbines to the onshore grid, navigating a route that involves varying water depths, geological conditions, and seabed dynamics. Faced with the uncertainties of natural conditions, we had to synchronize various tasks under optimal sea and weather conditions. We have provided comprehensive onshore support, including shore pull equipment, excavation, cable laying, manpower supply, and other preparatory, operational, and reinstatement.

The process of the project, we implemented stringent environmental management measures to minimize the impact on the environment, focusing on air quality and oil management. We also ensured that our machinery and equipment met emission standards and conducted regular maintenance and inspected to reduce air pollution. Additionally, we have established an oil management system to prevent spills and protect the local ecosystem. The coastal area of the project is a breeding ground for the Taiwanese Sousa chinensis, we also carried out environmental protection measures, including noise control and regular environmental assessments, to make sure the Sousa chinensis habitat not get hurt.

As global climate change and greenhouse gas emissions become increasingly serious issues, as participats in the wind energy sector not only contributes to the development of renewable energy but also highlights Taiwan's growing role as a leader in the Asian offshore wind market, leveraging its large-scale development experience. In the future, we hope to provide our professional expertise and turnkey capabilities in offshore maritime engineering.
