Zhong Neng 29 offshore wind power blade transportation operation

Zhong Neng received local content plan approval from the Taiwanese government in November 2019 and is one of only two offshore wind projects in Taiwan’s offshore wind history to fulfill the highest localization requirements.
Mammoet-Giant assisted Vestas in transporting a total of 78 offshore wind turbine blades. These blades are 85 meters long and weigh 35 tons. Mammoet-Giant used a Goldhofer multi-axis hydraulic module plate rack with a total of 20 axles and a trailer. The blade was loaded in Tien Li and transported by road at night to Taichung Port #37 Terminal for temporary storage, waiting for the installation ship to be sent to the offshore.

This project is divided into lifting operations and transportation operations:
Lifting operations: According to the drawing, use 80-ton and 100-ton cranes that meet the specifications to hang the head and tail ends of the blades respectively. Use a cherrypicker to hook up the spreader at the hanging point. The team directs the trailer to push Goldhofer and stop under the blade. At place the blade on the Goldhofer and lash it stable. Transportation operations: According to the night transportation planning schedule. During the operation, in addition to Goldhofer operators and front and rear guide vehicles to transport and escort the blades, there are also traffic control personnel at major intersections to clear the roads, so that the blades can reach their destination smoothly under the highest safety environment.
